Rental

Grace United Church, as part of its outreach mission in the community, recognizes that it has stewardship over a unique building in downtown Dartmouth and it has a duty to support the use of that facility by the community where practicable. Grace will make the facility available to community groups and commercial operations that serve the congregational mission and/or the greater good of the community. However, any use of the Church premises and its equipment by external user groups must respect: the physical structure, the interests of the Congregation, the safety of all users of the Church building, and the use of the building by other user groups.

Below are descriptions and pictures of our spaces.

We have a fully licensed (by NS Dept of Health) commercial kitchen which includes all equipment and supplies (four ovens, stove, dishwasher, ample work space, refrigerators (2), all cutlery, dishes, pots, pans, aprons, towels, cleaning supplies etc. Our purpose is to assist potential entrepreneurs in starting a business without the necessity of undertaking significant startup costs e.g., rent, equipment, additional license fees etc. Our kitchen space is available on a scheduled basis for a set fee.

We have two general assembly areas capable of accommodating fitness groups, Martial Arts programs, health programs (first aid etc), choral groups, driving schools, meetings etc. Our purpose in supporting such renters is to provide these user groups with regularly available and scheduled space supplied with the necessary tables and chairs required to fulfill their program basic needs in order to support their commercial and/or community interests.

The Lower Hall can be accessed directly from outside by a stairs from King Street. It is not wheelchair accessible. There are two sets of washrooms between the outside entrance and the Lower Hall. Our fully licensed commercial kitchen is off this Hall.

The Upper Hall has a ramp door that makes it wheelchair accessible. There are two washrooms available, one with an adult change table. There is a small kitchenette off the Upper Hall.

We also make our spaces (including the church sanctuary) available to community groups for special events such as concerts, day camps, workshops, etc. The cost for such usage is negotiable and can be arranged by contacting our Rental Manager.

We also offer our spaces to community/church groups such as Cubs, Guides etc., on a no charge basis. Again our purpose is make the facilities of the church available to the community in ways that benefit the community as a whole and which provide for the greater good of the community.
